FORBES DNA

Last week Steve Forbes was in India for his Indian venture. Forbes with collaboration of Network 18 group has come out with magazine (Forbes India). I always feel that there is not any world class business magazine available in India, when I have heard name of Forbes, I was very happy. Since I was in my village, it was not possible for me to get it. After performing 5 days long Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, I headed to Mumbai. After enquiring at various places, I finally got it at Manmad (Maharashtra). Front page is really attractive, and I opened it with more eagerness. It is different from other business magazines available in the market on various counts. Business stories have not been straitjacketed in this magazine. There is reflection of in-depth analysis in articles. I really liked the way as articles have been structured. Although I am not a right person to review such a business magazine, but I strongly believe this magazine will be liked by Indian readers. Is ‘Forbes India’ all about business and nothing else? Nope, this magazine does not only intend to provide purely business news, but will tell you about the best in travel, books, adventure sports, food, hobbies, movies and etiquette. I really like ‘Ask the Insider’ column.
But as a law student I believe that one business magazine should contain regulatory update also. I hope this section will also be included in this magazine.
Really this magazine is FORBES DNA.

Prolonged Detention

Obama’s recent speech on national security has invited controversy. Opponents are of having this view that Obama is trying to do those things indirectly, which is not possible to be done indirectly. They are claiming, he is following the path of Bush. Before making any comment over this issue, I thought, I should read that speech. Mr. Obama made remarks on National security on May 21, 2009. In his speech, Mr. Obama talked about 5 types of detainees. In course of his argument he talked about prolonged detention. He said that there may be a number of people, who cannot be prosecuted for past crimes, in some cases because evidence may be tainted, but who nonetheless pose a threat to the security of the United States. For these categories of detainees, he suggested prolonged detention.
Human Rights activists are making hue and cry and terming it as an unconstitutional. But I am holding different view. As Obama has pointed out in his speech that as a student he has read constitution and as a teacher he has taught constitution, he knows better what is constitutional and what is not. His concern for the reform of criminal justice reform is evident from major changes in procedural aspect of Military Commission. As a head of Nation, he cannot compromise with the security of a nation. No one can be very much confident that Al-Qaida will never attack.
State of affairs of Pakistan clearly indicates strong presence of Al-Qaida.
I think every nation should come out with such steps to combat terrorism.
I expect strong measures will be taken by PC.

IPL-II

Although i have not followed every match of IPL-II,but i witnessed most of them. Yesterday,it was over. Certainly IPL has attained a hight status compare to other league. But still i am unable to satisfy myself, whether it is good for cricket. Cricket was considered to be a game of Gentleman, but can any one say with full conviction that IPL has reflcted that spirit. IPL is good for cricketer, they are making a lot of money. Even they are ready to sacrifice their home squad. Cris Gayle, member of WI Cricket team, has gone to a extent to call Test Cricket is useless format of Cricket. He is also IPL player,he had to leave IPL for representing, his Country. He joined his team, just few days before tournament begins. One can easily understand how much prepared he would be. His performace in test series is teling every story.
Now coming to IPL, daily we are finding unexpected results. I agree Cricket is game of uncertainity, but not so uncertain. Perhaps Javed Miyandad, Former Cricketer of Pakistan, was right when he said IPL matches are fixed.
I am not per say aginst this format of cricket. It's really good. Young players are getting chance to show their talent and making good money.
But it should be regulated properly. ICC should include IPL matches in it's calender. Last but most important,Modi should allow IPL corruption team to inspect these matches also.
